Military and Marine, responsible for the overall growth and
development of military and commercial products to mili-
tary agencies.
The Military/Marine Products Group received three
contracts for the next U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier (CVN 78),
named for the late U.S. President Gerald R. Ford. Pumping
applications for the Ford include jet fuel and fire-fighting
foam (AFFF). The lead pumping units — positive displace-
ment rotary vane pumps specially designed for demanding
services on naval combat ships — will undergo shock and
noise qualifications, along with both shipyard and Navy
approval. This process takes more than one-and-a-half years
to complete before the production units are approved for
delivery.
